NADFAS recognises the valuable contribution of the arts to the development of creative, cognitive, communication and social skills in young people. Art also serves as a route into other fields such as history, the environment, science and technology.

The aim of NADFAS Young Arts is to expand the horizons of young people through their involvement in creative activities.

West Surrey NADFAS societies have an excellent record of inspiring youngsters, having started with a Young NADFAS group in Haslemere. All 18 DFAS funded Young Arts projects in 2011, and more details of each project can be found in the YA Report on the Chairmen’s Page.

With relatively low budgets, these projects have not only made a difference to many young people, but have enhanced the skills of Art & Design teachers. To witness the joy and involvement of youngsters during the visit of an artist to their school and to see their pride when their work is completed and exhibited is indeed a privilege and reward for the supporting society and its membership.
